Biography

Michelle Markatos is an interdisciplinary artist working and living in Saskatchewan, Canada. She received an MFA from Emily Carr University of Art + Design, a Post-Baccalaureate, and a BFA from the University of Regina. Her practice explores the beauty in decaying plant life that acts as a metaphor for her own body and life experiences. Markatos’ material practice and research utilize clay and still-life photography to work with themes of memory, loss, and identity. She was the recipient of the Geoff Rees Memorial Fund Award, Emily Carr University of Art + Design.
